Laura Parkinson – Bowen Therapist
I have almost 20 years experience as a registered nurse predominantly specialising in acute Haematology and Oncology nursing both in a hospital setting and a community setting. Having also had the privilege to have worked as a specialist chemotherapy nurse administering treatments to patients in their own homes and supporting them through the most personal journeys. This role has given me an invaluable understanding of the human body, the healthcare system, and the importance of compassionate, person-centred connections with those that I work with.
As a mum to teenage boys, I have experienced them growing up facing challenges that many young people face today. This together with my own lived experience has drawn me towards a role in holistic and complementary therapies with special areas of interest including neurodivergence and trauma. Specifically relating to our bodies’ innate ability to heal and find balance with the right support, finding an overall improvement in health and wellbeing.
My path to Bowen began when I sought treatment for a simple foot pain, but my experience was far more profound. Not only did the foot pain resolve after just one session, but I also experienced deep shifts in my mood, stress levels and overall well-being. I have since continued to use Bowen as a fundamental tool to support my own health through times of ill health, anxiety and grief, finding that its gentle approach to restoring balance and aiding healing is a powerful mode that has helped me to feel pain-free and more like myself again. This lit a spark for me and I knew that it was something that I wanted to learn and share.
I am a fully qualified Bowen Therapist and am dedicated to helping others tap into their bodies’ innate ability to rebalance and heal both acute and more chronic issues.
My qualifications include:
- Diploma in Assessment Led Bowen
- NST Bowen (Basic)
- Level 3 Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology
- Level 3 Diploma in Healthy Eating and Wellbeing
- Level 2 Certificate in understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health
- BSc Nursing
The very essence of Bowen speaks to my core values of Alignment, Balance and Connection and through this my aim is to help people restore balance in their bodies and improve their overall health and wellbeing in a calm and compassionate environment.
