Who Benefits?

Clients at Time for Me (of Kenilworth) range in age from just a few weeks old to nonagenarians, and are approximately 50:50 male : female. The range of injuries and imbalances they present with never ceases to amaze, especially with the compensatory patterns which can build up if an injury was left, perhaps masked with painkillers for a while until the body got used to the injury. Tensions in an area of the body can lead to organs and glands failing to function efficiently, leading to knock-on effects on hormone function and more.

Some have Bowen, some have Reflexology, some switch between the two according to their preference, need and experience of what works for them best when particular issues are concerning them.

The Bowen Technique is increasing recognized as a valuable therapy in the recovery from sports related injuries. Not only this but, sports professionals are finding that they are staying injury/pain free for longer and that their performance is improving across a wide range of sports such as, but not limited to, football, rugby, martial arts, professional dancers, running, motor sports, tennis, cycling, swimming and golf.

Bowen is being used effectively by Rugby League Leeds Rhinos and Premier League football teams such as Manchester United, Newcastle United and Sunderland. Various elite British athletes also include Bowen as part of their training regime.

Athletes recognize more than most the benefits of their body being in balance: they have more stamina and sustain fewer injuries. They are also able to focus and control the stress response, and these factors all result in an improved performance.

Here is what a few professional sportsmen and women have said about their experience of Bowen therapy:

“I am approaching the later years of my career and Bowen has helped my body to recover quicker after games and intense training. It´s great”. Jamie Peacock Leeds Rhinos.

“I have been receiving treatment for around a year and the benefits from it have been that I feel relaxed mentally also more supple and I have a greater range of movement”. Lee Smith Leeds Rhinos.

When asked “What is Bowen therapy?” Triathlon coach Joe Beer said,

I am not a practitioner but I do have this type of body work. It does not feel like rubbing muscles in a massage instead various muscle parts are lightly manipulated. It feels like little is happening until the therapist leaves the room (those used to massage think “where’s she going now?)… you lie there and “ping” muscles start to re-set. I walk out of the session floating on air, my body feels great and I have to say whilst I don’t need to know the science I do know it works for me and other athletes who have tried it.”

“Bowen greatly benefits my training and performance, providing me with regular Personal Bests”. Frankie Snare, 6th Women 25-29 Iron Man 2014.

The positive results I experienced physically and mentally during my Bowen therapy surpassed my initial expectations. I’m a very sporty individual (semi-professional footballer) with a busy work schedule so to find a therapy that significantly reduced stress levels and improved my physical wellbeing and performance was a first. I would typically use a sports masseuse but Bowen offers you so much more. I would certainly recommend a course of therapy, the positive results will be evident Ben Thompson.

“Although sceptical prior to receiving Bowen treatment the effects have been nothing but positive. Following competition it is extremely effective at relieving the tension and improving recovery in the neck and upper back areas”. Matt Diskin Leeds Rhinos.

“The quality of my training is better, with the same number of hours and level of training” explains GB triathlete Victoria Gill.

Nothing short of magic” British GB moto motorcycle rider James Ellison.

We aim is to deliver results efficiently and effectively within the shortest number of sessions. Many clients choose to continue with regular maintenance according to their need to help stay balanced and prevent issues occurring, with an appointment every month, three months or even every six months or more.  Many others find that they are fine after 1-2 sessions, only getting in touch if other issues arise, which is often many years later perhaps when they have suffered an injury and they do not want to allow the compensatory effects to build up again.
